I think the Liebster is like the award, you know?

Okay, so it’s not a Grammy, or a Tony, or any other big red carpet event, but I got pretty darn excited when Claire nominated me for my first Liebster Blogger award! AHHH! The excitement!

I had heard of the Liebster in passing, but never really looked much into it. Turns out, after reading Claire’s post on it as well as my pal Lauren’s post about it, the award is given to small bloggers, from other small bloggers. Small meaning 200-1000 followers!! And once you’re nominated for it, you nominate other lil’ bloggers to share the love! It’s really a warm, fuzzy feeling when you get one (or maybe that’s just me…).

There are a few other rules to follow, but they’re all good and fun!

  1. Write 11 facts about yourself
  2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator asked you
  3. Nominate 11 more small blogs
  4. Give 11 questions to your nominees

Pretty simple, right? I’m ready to jump right on in if you are!

11 facts about Audra!

  • I always order the vegetarian burrito from Chipotle. I’m not even remotely vegetarian. Further evidence for my husband that I’m a little weird!
  • I like the sound that tires make on gravel. And I like the smell of freshly cut grass. I think growing up out in the boondocks made a lasting impact on this city girl!
  • Josh and I absolutely love movies. You name it, we’ve seen it! AMC’s stubs card has been one of the most used cards in our repertoire!
  • I love to drive manual transmission cars! Ever since Josh taught me how when we were dating, I’ve been hooked! Maybe it was the CC, or the TT, or my first car (trusty old Wally), but I love fell in love driving them!
  • I have this completely irrational fear of talking on the phone. I do it, but I don’t like it. It’s awkward for me and I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to it. Text messages are the world’s greatest invention since sliced bread!
  • My high school, college, and first “big girl job” are all in the same town. Even though I no longer live there, I’m never too far away!
  • For our first Valentine’s Day, Josh gave me a gold fish, Fishy. Right then and there I knew he was the one for me!
  • It’s a goal of mine to read at least one book for fun, per month, for an entire year! It’s a lot easier said than done, which is especially funny considering a work in a library… but there just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day these days!
  • Every November 3rd, I celebrate “Carpe Diem Day”! A day to remember that we were meant to live, and live life to the fullest!
  • I am paralyzed when it comes to heights. Like the whole can’t breathe, I think I’m going to die kind of fear.
  • I am absolutely terrible when it comes to math… or rather, just numbers in general. I once thought the ATM gave us too much money for a withdrawal… Nope, I just couldn’t count.

Well, now that you know a little bit more about me and what makes me tick, I get to share the love with some other lovely bloggers that I love to follow along with!

  1. Thank you so much for nominating me Audra!!! What an honor! I love your blog as well, I always look for your posts!! I’ll answer your ten questions on here and work on my Liebster post tonight!

If you had a theme song, what would it be?
Islands-The XX I’ve always loved this song and always just related to it in a romantic way, but now I really think of my son when I hear this song.

Who or what inspired you to start blogging?
I was an English major in college, so I have always loved to write. As a young and single mom, I found there to be a pretty big gap in the online world for women in my position. I also don’t have any friends with kids, so blogging is my venue to be able to discuss parenting and baby-related things to other moms. It also really motivates me to do all the DIY projects I want to finish and gives me the opportunity to talk about other topics that interest me.

    Gold or silver?

    What have you learned recently?
My faith gives me the strength to get through anything

    Who is your favorite author?
It’s a tie: Harper Lee and Jane Austen

    What is your favorite cereal?
I love the berry flavored Kashi Go Lean Crisp one!

    Coffee or tea?
This is a tough one because I was obsessed with coffee before I got pregnant, but then I cut out caffeine and became addicted to tea. So I’d say coffee in the mornings, tea in the afternoon and night.

    What is your favorite season?
Fall, for sure! I love football!

You can have a half-hour conversation with any fictional character. Who do you choose? Why?
Atticus Finch. I love him so much I actually considered naming my son after him (I thought that would probably traumatize him, though). I have always admired him and although he is fictional, I have always viewed him as a sort of father figure.

    Pushpins or Dry-Erase markers?

What advice would you give someone who wants to start a blog?
Do it! Also, make it personal but avoid rants and things that others can’t relate to.

  2. Okay, so here’s the truth…a tab with this post has been open on my laptop for over a week. Just was waiting for the right time to be able to pore over what you wrote (I love Liebster posts!) and write a thoughtful response. Don’t ask me why 2:15 a.m. in Kansas City when I have to wake up at 5 a.m. to get ready to head the airport seemed like the right time. I don’t understand myself sometimes. 😉

But less about me, more about you. Congrats on the nomination!

I agree, phone conversations can be oh so awkward. Texts are preferred! Carpe Diem is something I believe it…and I think I just might have to start celebrating it each year, as well. Thanks for the heads-up! Frozen yogurt with nerds on top? Sounds yummy! This I must try. Oooo, and for some reason I could totally see you as being a 50s gal. You’ve got a classic elegance to you that is oh so 50s! And I loved your “best advice.” What a great way to think about scripture…as the best advice there is! 😉

I so enjoyed learning more about you, Audra, and I promise I will catch up on the rest of my Joyosphere reading soon. Hugs and congrats again!

    • Lauren! We’ve missed you dearly around this parts!

I must admit, I got pretty giddy when I was nominated, it was such a lovely surprise!

I’m hoping to do a Carpe Diem Day post some time in November, you should join in on the fun!

Can’t wait to see what you’re up to next!!
