Oz the Great and Powerful

This past weekend, in keeping with tradition, Josh and I headed out to our local silver screen to check out Oz the Great and Powerful in 3D. We had heard nothing but good things about this movie on the news all last week leading up to it’s release on Friday, and I must say that it lived up to the hype. As a Wicked fan, we found this movie to be thoroughly entertaining with just enough suspense to keep you guessing.

Oz the Great and Powerful takes place before the original movie, The Wizard of Oz. It details Oscar Diggs’s arrival in Oz after a twister in Kansas transports him to the colorful land of Oz. It’s a classic storyline of good vs. evil in which Oscar must discern which side is truly good. However reluctant Oscar is to get involved with the politics of Oz, he is pulled into the loop with a promise of a handsome reward.

I won’t give anything away here, I will simply urge you to see this movie! Josh and I thoroughly enjoyed it (despite the fact that it’s not Wicked… we’ll see you this summer!!) and it was one of the best 3D movies we have seen to this date (useful tip for 3D movies- sit as far back in the theater as you can, this makes a huge difference in your 3D experience!) and we’ve seen a lot… as in way too many to actually admit to… what can I say? We love movies!

  1. I was definitely skeptical of this movie at first (mostly because I’m such a huge fan of The Wizard of OZ and Wicked that I wondered if anything else could hold a candle to those), but your review definitely has me intrigued. Thanks for the rec!
