Well I am happy to report that our first Valentine’s Day craft has been completed, a day early at that! Woo-to-the-hoo for being on the ball! Okay, well our craft was more of a dessert… which is kind of the same thing right? Any way, this is how our heart shaped cookie experiment went.
We got the idea from fellow blogger on all things homemade and delicous, LB, over at A Step in the Journey. Her rendition was a little bit more involved and more sugary than
we I needed. So like LB, we turned to our trusty break and bake chocolate chip cookies from Meijer’s (we chose the mini ones- we figured they’d be cuter). I apologize for the grainy photos- that’s what happens when it’s 9:30 at night and are too focused on cookie baking to run upstairs and get the camera… oops!
After we broke off the cookies as the instructions indicated, I took a toothpick and made an indentation at the top of each cookie- all 40 of them- easy peasy! The little balls of cookie dough were quite small so getting an appropriately sized indentation proved a little difficult- I imagine that it would be a little easier with the regular sized break and bake cookies. Once that was done we popped them in the oven, following the package instructions. Then, enjoy your baked goods to your heart’s content! We sure have been, putting them in our cookie “stache”– yum, yum!
What have you guys been up to in the spirit of love? Any bakers or crafters out there? Or any super duper big plans to make this Valentine’s Day a special one?
